A friend of mine from the Nightvillains Music Blog showed me this video. It’s the new single from Black Noise featuring Lex One.

I really like this video for combining real footage with animated figures. I’ve been experimenting with video tracking footage and adding 3D tekst to it. The technique that is used is about the same.

I found this video on Carl Zitelmann’s Vimeo page. Carl Zitelmann is the writer and director of this short movie. The short film is based on the poem ‘Heavensong’ (text below the video) and “tells the story of Ebony, a little girl with a dark secret.“. Source

The author of this video, Javan Ivey (he’s also responsible for the music), said:
“An experimental animation exploring the “Stratastencil” technique that I’ve devised. Inspired by the Stratacut technique, Stratastencil is an additive process. Stratacut removes material to reveal another layer, while this technique adds another layer while still showing the layer before it.”

I’ve got no information about this video at all, but I do like it a lot! I really like the people’s reactions and the way he ruins the office in such a cool way. Just watch the video.

LICHTFAKTOR

Light Graffiti is a technique used in photography where you draw figures with light. You basically open your shutter for a long time and start waving around with a light. This is a stop motion video of photo’s using this technique.

I stumbled upon an artist named LICHTFAKTOR on Vimeo. Although I have seen video’s like these before, I really liked his ones. You can see two video’s below and visit his video channel for more.

Where Lives Come To Die

The video is based on (and uses the audio from) a poem written by Scott V. from Oakland. It starts like this: “There’s a doughnut shop on the corner, near where I work. It’s open all hours. And there sits a bunch of old, tired men.” From reading this quote, you should get the idea of what this short film is about.

I really like the poem and the video (which is created afterward by: Steve Lambert and Scott V. from Oakland) because of the somber tone and depressing mood. The best thing after all is that it does really happen to people. I see people like this every day. They interest me. I want to know what they are doing, why they are doing it and whether they are enjoying life or not.

Rubber Johnny

Rubber Johnny is a short film made by Chris Cunningham. Cunningham created this video as a promotion for the new Aphex Twin album “Drukqs”. The video didn’t look like a promotion video at all, but was very popular amongst some people. The video below is an extended version of the promotion video. I really like the dark and vague scenes because you can’t really see what the hell is going on and what you are actually looking at. Your imagination will fill in the blanks which is pretty cool. (if you have as much imagination as I do..)

This is what Warp Films (the distributor) says about the film:
“Johnny is a hyperactive, shape-shifting mutant child, kept locked away in a basement. With only his feverish imagination and his terrified dog for company, he finds ways to amuse himself in the dark.”

I really love this idea! I’ve never seen it before! The animation is created by ‘Sibe’ from ‘Blu’, produced by: Mercurio Film and has music from: ‘Andrea Martignoni’. The painted walls are located in Buenos Aires and Baden. This is the original link to the project:Blublu.org. Enjoy the video!
